Adult Financial Literacy brings US Treasury Official to Maine
Adult Financial Literacy brings US Treasury Official to Maine
(PRWEB) October 14, 2004
Government officials are increasingly recognizing the importance of adult financial literacy education. Financially savvy citizens are better able to avoid the pitfalls such as excessive debt, low retirement savings and bankruptcy.
Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Education, Dan Iannicola, Jr. will visit this Thursday to meet with leaders from the financial, governmental, education and non-profit sectors to discuss initiatives to increase adult financial literacy levels. The Institute for Financial Literacy will host this roundtable discussion in Portland, ME.
ÂItÂs an honor to work cooperatively with the Office of Financial Education and with Deputy Assistant Secretary Iannicola to promote adult financial literacy. Said Founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Financial Literacy, Leslie E. Linfield, Esq.
The Department of the Treasury is a leader in promoting financial education. Treasury established the Office of Financial Education in May of 2002. The office works to promote access to the financial education tools that can help all Americans make wiser choices in all areas of personal financial management, with a special emphasis on saving, credit management, homeownership and retirement planning.
The Institute for Financial Literacy works to make effective financial literacy education available to all American adults. The Institute accomplishes its mission by developing high-quality, user-friendly financial literacy education programs, partnering with other non-profit and educational organizations to integrate these programs into their stream of services, and setting national standards in adult financial literacy education.
