Attorney Thomas Henson, of HensonFuerst, P.A., law firm, Raleigh, NC, represents Walter Jacobs, featured in the CBS “60 Minutes” story, “Deception at Duke.” Henson, who appears in the story, is suing Duke University on behalf of Jacobs over the treatment of his wife, Juliet, who died in 2010.

Juliet Jacobs, of Durham, had been a participant in a Duke experimental cancer treatment program, which was later shut down over allegations that test data was seriously flawed and questions about the credentials of head researcher Anil Potti. The suit, case number CVS 4721, was filed in Superior Court of North Carolina in September 2011.

“Any institution, especially one with the reputation of Duke, should be held accountable for patient safety when conducting any type of medical research,” Henson said.

The “60 minutes” story, scheduled to air Sunday, February 12, investigates the allegations against Duke and Potti and consequences to patients and their families.

HensonFuerst, P.A. has focused for 30 years on the representation of clients hurt by the negligence of others, including corporations, hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, nursing homes and the government. The firm carries the highest rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell for professionalism and integrity.
