Georgian Bath and its beautiful surrounding countryside is one of the most visited historic places in Britain. Throughout the year Bath Spa hosts a number of major festivals. First in February is the Bath Literature Festival with a wide range of authors covering subjects from history to fiction, from childrens books to biographies. The Bath Literature festival is not just a book signing event but a forum for debate and exchange of ideas between readers and writers. This followed by the Mid- Somerset festival which features a whole range of performing arts including speech, drama, vocal and choral. The event is strictly for amateurs but judged by professionals. In April it’s the Bath Comedy Festival which starts on Aprils Fools Day. The Bath Dance Festival in May offers a fantastic mix of dance experience, workshops and street performances. In May there is the Bath Spring Flower Festival followed by the Bath International Music Festival featuring the world’s best jazz, folk and classical music. The festivals continue through the year with highlights including The Roman baths by Torchlight in August and the Bath Film Festival in October.
