ClearStar Develops and Implements Multi-Factor Authentication Security Enhancement

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) August 04, 2011

ClearStar, Inc., a leading background check technology and service provider, today announces the successful development and implementation of its multi-factor authentication solution. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) dramatically enhances the security of ClearStar’s background check technology platform by requiring more than one factor when authenticating the identity of users accessing the ClearStar technology.

ClearStar’s multi-factor authentication solution was developed based on the requirements of the Experian Independent 3rd Party Assessment (EI3PA) standards, and authenticates the identity of a user based on something the user knows (such as a user name and password) and something the user has (such as a computer or device which can be verified using a cookie stored during authentication).

In an effort to further reduce Internet security threats and strengthen the protection of the background check data transferred through the ClearStar technology platform, multi-factor authentication will be required of all users.

MFA is the latest advance in a line of data security upgrades and features focused on ensuring that the personal information that ClearStar is trusted to protect, is secured as strongly as possible. MFA provides ClearStar users with any even greater level of confidence that the personally identifiable information (PII) and other sensitive data entrusted to ClearStar is secure.

“After evaluating the dominant third-party solutions for MFA, ClearStar chose to develop our own solution that meets industry standard security requirements like Experian’s EI3PA and PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard),” stated Ken Dawson, ClearStar’s CIO/CSO. “This direction has allowed us to integrate this feature into all of the components of our technology platform, while providing levels of flexibility and scalability that will allow us to continue to evolve this solution to meet or exceed changing security requirements.”
