Foster Children Onside with the FCA

(PRWEB) August 31, 2007

Nottingham University played host to Foster Care Associates (FCA) 2007 football tournament this month with foster children from across the UK and Ireland taking part in the sporting challenge.

Making a guest appearance, pop artist Kelly Young from Liberty X kicked off proceedings as the two-day event got underway at Highfields sports ground in Nottingham. Following a series of regional qualifying heats, 36 teams competed for victory in the grand final held on Sunday, August 19.

Commenting, Kelly Young said: “It’s wonderful to see so many looked after children participate in such a fun event. I’ve been really impressed by the enormous amount of talent these children have and the positive team spirit they share.”

The FCA football initiative is part of an on-going programme of events and activities involving looked after children and young people. As well as encouraging participation it aims to bring about a sense of belonging and camaraderie among the youngsters. The 2007 football tournament was attended by 450 foster children, birth children, foster carers and FCA staff.
