Navtej Kohli Scholarship Program has made an announcement of assigning a scholarship worth 1 Lac rupees to the deserving IT student for pursuing Masters Course in Engineering/computer sciences.
The scholarship is open for the Delhi/NCR region students only. Any candidate who is above 22 years of age and not more than 28 years is eligible to apply. Candidates must possess a first class degree in B.Tech, BCA or BE from an accredited college. Student pursuing Bachelors course in the specified field can also apply but the selection will be based on the final year results only.

There will be two stages of the selection process. In the first stage, the candidates will have to submit an online form along with the requirements specified in the form. Second stage comprises of a screening process followed by selection of the best candidate on the basis of personal interviews. Applicants are assessed for their intellectual distinction, character, and commitment to service and socio-financial status and technical acumen.
NASSCOM has predicted a growth rate of 16-18% in IT sector for the year 2011, despite the fear of recession in US and European market. This development curve has inspired a number of students to opt out for a career in Information and technology.
According to statistics provided by UGC, there is a sharp rise in the number of educational institutes opened from 2004-2009. But the ratio of students entering these professional institutions is still very low. This discrepancy is arising due to high cost educational programs. There is an acute shortage of the resources as compared to the demand in the country. A number of students are forced to take up a job soon after their graduation levels. Financial strain supersedes the dream of higher education.
The program is open to those wishing to pursue higher education in engineering and/or computer sciences. It is a privately funded initiative intended to help the students in Technical education to pursue their higher studies.
The scholarship program has been launched by Mr. Navtej Kohli, an imminent personality in the global corporate world. The scholarship under this program are administered and awarded by his not-for-profit trust which was established in the year 2007.
