U.S. Foodservice-Connecticut Donates Nearly 190,000 Meals to Thames Valley Council for Community Action
Norwich, CT (Vocus) November 5, 2010
U.S. Foodservice-Connecticut donated more than $ 27,000 worth of food, the equivalent of nearly 190,000 meals, to the Thames Valley Council for Community Action (TVCCA). TVCCA’s Food and Nutrition Services program provides food to local individuals and families in need. The food was donated during the WCTY-FM Annual Food Drive benefitting the TVCCA held at the Big Y in Norwich, Connecticut, on November 5-6.
“The generous donation from U.S. Foodservice will enable our team to provide meals to tens of thousands of families and individuals that rely on our services,” said Deborah Monahan, executive director, TVCCA. “Without the support of the community, we would be unable to meet the great demand for food and nutrition products and services, especially during the holiday season.”
U.S. Foodservice-Connecticut donated more than 16,000 pounds of food to local food banks and charities to date in 2010.
“As a foodservice distributor, we play an important role in the fight against hunger,” said Randy Taylor, president, U.S. Foodservice-Connecticut. “We will continue to support local community organizations like TVCCA to provide much needed food products to those in need.”
